Louis Cartier invented the ‘Santos-Dumont’ timepiece at the turn of the 20th century so that his friend, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont could check the time while flying without having to look down at his pocket watch. This large iteration has a sleek black dial complete with steel sword-shaped hands and Roman numerals and has a matching lacquered stainless steel case and handsome alligator strap.
